No. Grass-fed means that the animal was only fed grass. Our sheep and cattle are grass-fed, meaning they are only fed grass because they are ruminants. Ruminants can digest and fully thrive off grass alone.
Pasture Raised means that the animal lives on pasture, but they are supplemented with a feed. Pigs, chickens, and turkeys are monogastric and cannot thrive on pasture alone.

We are not certified organic, but we implement organic practices plus more, including raising our animals outside all the time.
We use the movement of the animals for pasture management when it comes to weed control. Our goal as a regenerative farm is increasing the life in the soil, and pesticides/herbicide use does the opposite of this.
We invite you to follow along through our newsletter and on Instagram @behindtheoaksfarm to experience life on the farm, our animals, and what we do.

Nope. None of the animals in our meat program are given any antibiotics or hormones.
If an animal does become ill and is in need of life-saving medicine, they are removed from our meat program and given the necessary medication.

Yes. We have a farm tour in the spring and fall every year. It is a hay ride through the property stopping at each animal, so you can see how and why we do what we do. We encourage lots of questions.
Fall tour highlights our Thanksgiving turkeys on pasture.
Spring tour highlights our herd and pasture management, and there may even be new piglets or lambs about.
Sign up for email updates for farm tour announcements.
