December 2025 on the Farm

We want to thank everyone who came out to our November Farm tour and for allowing us at Behind the Oaks Farm to be apart of your Thanksgiving celebration. We are truly honored and so thankful for your support.

December is off to a fast start. Cattle made it back to our home property this week-we are happy to have them back and not to have to drive that commute a few times a week. We plan on working cattle next week and turning out our bulls for our second calving. Our goal is to have 2 breeding cycles a year. By shortening the window of breeding, we can make sure all cows are doing their job, bulls are covering appropriately, and we can be prepared for any birth/calf that needs intervention.

Sheep headed off to Pure Pastures Ranch in Canyon Lake this week. We have decided to partner with them on lamb as we do not have the available help or grazing at this time to keep sheep. We are hoping to have lamb to offer again come the new year.

Chickens head to the processor in 2 weeks, and we are hoping to get you restocked on all cuts before we take our Christmas break.

All cattle made it safely back to the home property this week-even with the wet conditions(a bit slippery going up that ramp). We use cattle haulers to get the job done quickly as we have a growing herd. Our bulls will come back to the home property soon to do their job for 30-45 days, and then they get a vacation until May.
