March-Our Season of Chaos
We are surfacing from harvesting turkeys to give you a quick update on the farm.
March has become a busy time-more so than we expected. We are expanding our broiler houses(photos to come one day), adding new laying hens to our flock, adding in new pigs, and processing a big ole’ flock of turkeys. I believe we like the mayhem and mess it brings. We tend to be procrastinators, and our best work gets done when the deadline looms near.
Spring farm tour has finally been added to the website for signups. We are a few weeks late, but we sure hope you can make it out. We always look forward to seeing everyone and welcoming those who have never been out to the farm before. If the weather now is any indication, it will probably be a nice hot morning.
We added Wild Caught Salmon to the website as well. We partnered with a father son team that heads up to Alaska every season to catch sockeye salmon from Bristol Bay. Hopefully this helps bridge that gap between the fisherman and your plate.
And, thanks to everyone that came out for the conference. We had a great time, met lots of people wanting to learn more about starting in agriculture and those that are just getting their feet wet. We also learned lots of things we could be doing better to improve our grazing and overall recovery of the land.
